The James Irvine Foundation awarded a grant to the Watts Towers totalling $500,000 to help fund repair and preservation of the landmark folk-art masterpiece.
According to the resident of Irvine Foundation James Canales, the motivation for the grant given is to see Watts Towers as an important cultural icon for Los Angeles.
